Who say's props don't score?

Bowdon kicked off against a Liverpool Collegiate side that were propping up the bottom of the league. Early signs were not good for the visitors, Bowdon dominating play scoring after 2 minutes from a series of short pick and drives through prop Craig Anthony. Their control of the game was further asserted when fullback Jeffers picked up a loose kick midway in the Bowdon half and tip toed up the field through the flailing opposition to score. (12-0) Despite the Collegiate half backs best efforts they rarely caused much concern with the home forwards showing an appetite for the contest missing from the previous week. Repeating the opening try on 32 minutes gave a second try to prop Anthony. Converted by Jonny Edwards the score moved to 19 nil. Collegiate toiled manfully but could not find the final pass to unlock the home defense. Bowdon hooker Sean Hughes consistently drove at the opposition along with captain Landeman, Birtwell, Waddington, Rice and Gomulko. It was no surprise when on 37 minutes Bowdon increased the tally through Jamie Anthony 24 – 0 half time.

The second half began as a carbon copy of the first, once again the rampaging Bowdon forward unit provided the opportunity for a hat trick try to Craig Anthony 31 – 0. Clearly on top Bowdon eased off a little and allowed the visitors a little more freedom as injuries, a sin bin and replacements disrupted the fluidity of the first half. Sterling work from Liam Rice tackling on the left wing thwarted a number of Collegiate attempts to break out. With the game stagnating a little at the half hour point Bowdon moved the ball quickly right and left in front the Collegiate 22m creating the space for Tom Gomulko to receive on the right wing where he crossed over the line in front of the cheering Bowdon supporters 38 – 0. The final score came 38 minutes in as the ex-colt Harry Martin, who had performed well throughout his time on the field, when he supported well on the right and outpace and out powered the opposition as he scored in the corner.

Credit to Liverpool Collegiate who stuck to the task in hand but this was a comfortable win for Bowdon who continue to sit second in the league with it all to play for in the coming weeks.
