Bowdon were in pool D which had 5 teams in, all the others had only 4. Great for us to play more rugby but the lads were definitely tired in the semi final. They played rugby in style and many of the opposition coaches thought the lads were a well drilled outfit. We kicked off with a game against Chester A winning 10 - 0 (revenge for being beaten in the semi final last year). The next game proved more difficult and we let Stockport take hold of the game but the boys held on for a 10 - 5 victory. Next was Widnes who we knew was tough but the boys took no prisoners and ran out 25 - 0 winners. While all the other groups had finished we still had to played a Bury side that looked like U14's! Bury tested us at times but our organisation was better and the forwards as they had done all day kept possession and we won 15 - 0. Only the winer of the group went through to the Cup competition. The 4 teams in the cup were Caldy, Lymm, Macclesfield and ourselves. We were up against our local rivals Lymm who have been unbeaten for 2 years. The first have was hard and Lymm took control as we seemed to be asleep. It was 3 tries to nil at half time to Lymm. The 2nd half seemed to wake us up and we attacked hard. Still Lymm's defence was strong and kept us out. They scored again to make it 4 tries to nil. As I mentioned at the start fatigue had set in and the semi final hurdle was tough. Although, the lads should be proud to be 1 of the strong 4 teams in that Cup Semi. Possible comfort was we were beaten by the eventual winners of the Cup competition.

I would like to say a big thank to all the players (who did us proud) and the parents who supported us well and kept the Bowdon team spirit going. Special thanks to Martin Shovln for organising then kit bag and Marquee, Mandy for the first aid and Jim for being the camera man! It was great to see everyone helping out and with the support from all the parents, our job would be hard.
