What a way to finish the season !!

Bowdon U7’s Victorious at Sale Sharks Festival

Bowdon U7’s were magnificent this morning at the final U7’s festival of the season at Edgeley Park. Drawn in a difficult pool, the first game against Caldy was really tough but some really good tagging from Jack Stanley and great tries from Charlie Hayton and Harry Edmundson saw us through, eventually winning by a couple of scores.

The second game was against Blackburn and was no easier. Bowdon suffered a turnover early on in the game but managed to stay organized and kept Blackburn from scoring. Millie Wardle scored a great turnover try, which gave Bowdon the impetus and after that never looked like loosing. Another great run, this time from Ollie Jayne lead to another try and despite the best efforts of the Blackburn coach, Bowdon shut the game out for a second win of the day.

Game three and Liverpool Collegiate B found the rising confidence in the Bowdon squad too much to handle. Tries from Jack Bathurst and another turnover try from Tom Greening along with some great defense from Henry McGuire saw Bowdon run out confortable winners.

By now there was no stopping Bowdon and Scott Swarbrick had far too much pace for the Congleton U7’s, adding another couple of tries to his tally for the day. Great defending from Josh Legg and the rest of the team kept Congleton at bay and the game ended 6-1 to Bowdon, job done, unbeaten and in the final.

After a few minutes relaxing the U7’s got together with Chris Bathurst who coached the final. Manchester had been running drills throughout the break but had met their match against Bowdon. In a close (and physical) game the teams scored alternate tries with Bowdon going behind after a turnover, but coming straight back into the game with another great team try. In a shortened final game Bowdon kept focused and in the dying seconds managed to work the ball out to the wing and score a brilliant winning try. The parents and coaches invaded the Pitch at the final whistle, the score was 5-4 Bowdon… The Champions !!!

The team was presented the Trophy at half time on the Pitch in front of the Capacity crowd along with the Victorious Bowdon U8’s. Well done to all the children, what a great finish to the Season
