Bowdon actually found some of their most fluent rugby of the season throughout the game, starting with a continuous spell of pressure leading to an early score for Lewis Littler. Benjy Jones then scored a second excellent team try, to leave the first quarter score at a healthy 14-0.
A try from Robbie Agnew extended Bowdon’s lead in the second quarter, before Sandbach notched up their first try, prior to a late score from Adam Bushell gaving Bowdon a 28-7 half time lead.
Despite a raft of changes to the Bowdon line-up, the spirit and adventure shown in the first period continued. Special mention must go for a very promising performance from Joe Breen, which bodes well for next season. Although Sandbach scored first, Bowdon continued to dominate, Freddie Cox going over after a fine run from Monty Stirling, before tries from Harry Briscoe (x2), James Simpson and Jed MacKenzie (to cap a fine individual display) completed the scoring.
